Within the state of California, the San Ramon Valley Unified School District is the recipient of the State Department of Education’s Distinguished Schools Award. The SRVUSD stands out in the state by having won this award more than 50 times. The National Department of Education has also recognized SRVUSD’s academic excellence by presenting some of its schools with the Blue Ribbon Schools award. The reason for these accolades lies in the strong programming, the dedication of the faculty and staff and the involvement of the parents and families. The schools offer an International Baccalaureate academic program for schools, courses in foreign language and have an active visual and performing arts department.
San Ramon also provides opportunities for higher education. The San Ramon branch campus of Diablo Valley College is a “feeder” college to the University of California, Berkeley; California State University, East Bay; and to St. Mary’s College. DVC offers unique programs in hotel/restaurant management, culinary arts, dental technology and real estate. The University of San Francisco, one of the most highly ranked universities in the United States, has a regional campus in San Ramon. Additionally, the UC Davis Graduate School of Management operates the Bay Area working professional program in the city.
