The trails get much more traffic during sunny days and summer months so of course, they are bound to get some wear and tear. Luckily, this problem will be solved and the trail will be improved thanks to Measure J that will include “include resurfacing, removing and replacing damaged asphalt, crack sealing, leveling, micro-surfacing, slurry sealing and seal coating.” This great renovation will span 16 miles of the 32 mile trail and construction will begin this week and end July 28th to reveal a new and improved scenic escape.

Improvements on the popular Iron Horse Trail will begin today, according to East Bay Regional Park District officials.
Park district officials said work will take place on a 16-mile span of the trail between the Rudgear staging area in Alamo and the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station.
The improvements to the trail include resurfacing, removing and replacing damaged asphalt, crack sealing, leveling, micro-surfacing, slurry sealing and seal coating.
The $341,000 project was funded by Measure J sales tax revenue for the Contra Costa County portion and the park district’s general fund for the Alameda County segment.
Various sections of the trail will be closed during renovations at different times from today through July 28.
